Why Samaritans

We need vital funds to ensure that our volunteers continue to always be there, around the clock, to answer telephone calls, emails, letters and texts from anyone in distress needing emotional support.

• £10 (€15) pays for 24 calls to our national number: 08457 90 90 90
• £50 (€75) pays for Samaritans to answer 20 telephone calls from people needing emotional support.
• £100 (€150), lets Samaritans recruit and train a brand new Samaritans volunteer.
• £200 (€300) pays for Samaritans to respond to 80 emails
• £1,500 (€2,200) would keep Samaritans running throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland for one hour

24:7 was chosen to be the focus of our summer fundraising, and the perfect day to tell the world that Samaritans are there to answer calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. We are the only service which is always there for people who need emotional support, whether by telephone, email, letter or face to face.

We are immensely proud of our volunteers and so grateful for their time and the skills they bring to Samaritans.

The combined financial contribution of our volunteers through their time alone is a staggering £30 million. But we need your help to support them.
